Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone

Just a quick walk or bike ride (on our Hotel Milo Cruisers) away is Santa Barbara’s famous Funk Zone – a must see while in town!

The artistic Funk Zone features some of the area’s best boutique tasting rooms, art galleries, vintage shops, adorable cafes and up and coming distillers and breweries.   Stretching from the ocean to Highway 101, the Funk Zone has transitioned from a hub of industry and manufacturing to a cultural hotspot filled with converted warehouses, artists’ lofts and design centric businesses.   Everywhere you look you are surrounded by art from contemporary galleries to graffiti street art murals.  In addition, don’t be surprised if you hear live music drafting out from a local venue luring you in for a listen and possibly a drink.

One of the Funk Zone’s main attractions is the Urban Wine Trail.  Made up of twenty plus tasting rooms, the Urban Wine Trail offers the finest wines of Santa Barbara region within walking distance of downtown.   Be sure to stop by some of our favorite tasting rooms along the Urban Wine Trail including:  Santa Barbara Winery, Kunin Wines, DV8 Cellars, Municipal Winemakers and many more.

Check out our calendar of events for special Funk Zone activities such as the Funk Zone Art Walk that occurs about every 8 weeks, where local galleries, studios and art-centric venues open their doors to the public.

Below are a list of recommendations for eating, drinking and shopping your way through the Funk Zone.  Bring along your dog for your stroll through the Funk Zone as many businesses are pet friendly!
