Santa Barbara is the ideal place to spend a weekend getaway with the one you love. However, we believe that a romantic day or night doesn’t necessarily have to be at an expensive restaurant or fancy theatre. Here’s our list of the top five destinations around Santa Barbara to head for your next special date:

The Botanic Garden

The Botanic Garden, located in the Mission Canyon foothills, is a quiet and understated destination that would make the perfect place for a romantic daytime date. Pack a picnic and get lost amongst the extensive gardens, plus find the only Redwood trees in Santa Barbara!

Stearns Wharf

There’s something very idyllic about a wharf—the sound of the ocean underfoot, the misty breeze from the sea and the view of the horizon from the end of the pier all inspire romance. With so much to do and see, we recommend taking your love for a stroll down Stearns Wharf. You can grab a bite to eat, shop for local souvenirs, go wine tasting, even visit the Sea Center museum for an afternoon that is as educational as it is romantic!

Los Olivos

Los Olivos is a tiny town located up Highway 154 near Santa Ynez and is a very popular destination for wine-lovers and romantics alike. With tasting rooms lining the streets of Downtown, vineyards all around, and adorable boutiques and restaurants, it is easy to understand why.

Butterfly Beach

When you’re in love, it’s hard not to find every beach romantic, but we chose Butterfly beach as the best in SB because of its great location, beautiful walkways and views down the coast of Downtown. You’ll find plenty of couples curled up on beach blankets around sunset, and we suggest  you do the same!

The Condor Express

The last on our list, The Condor Express, is one of the more famous whale watching tour boats in Santa Barbara, popular amongst locals and tourists alike. With a bar on board and plenty of room to spread out, we recommend every couple visiting SB book a trip. What could be more romantic than experiencing the beauty of nature with a glass of wine in hand and your love by your side?
