Nothing says comfort and relaxation like a hearty Italian dinner. On your next vacation to Santa Barbara, treat yourself to a truly delicious take on Italy’s finest with any of these excellent spots:

Ca’Dario is a real local favorite in Sana Barbara. Headed by Chef Dario Furlati, the menu is filled with authentic and perfectly prepared Italian classics. Using only the freshest ingredients and finding inspiration in local, seasonal fare, we highly recommend trying any of the specials offered that day. Other favorites include the Ravioli al Burro e Salvia and the Fusilli Tartufati made with leeks, artichokes, ricotta and truffle oil.

Ca’Dario. 37 East Victoria Street. 805 884 9419.

Trattoria Vittoria

Trattoria Vittoria is an intimate Italian restaurant that is a great spot for romantic dinners. With an extensive pasta menu including classic dishes and house-made pastas, we recommend trying any of the meals that pique your interest. Our favorites include the homemade Gnocchi with Gorgonzola or the Melanzana alla Parmigiana made with japanese eggplants.

Trattoria Vittoria. 30 East Victoria Street. 805 962 5014.

Olio e Limone

Olio e Limone is the liveliest restaurant on our list and is exactly where you want to go for a fun night out with excellent food, friendly staff and specialty drinks. The menu is huge (as is the wine list,) but we suggest sticking to Sicilian dishes as they are the chef’s favorite. Start with any of the carpaccio plates and try the Amalfi Dream cocktail made with vodka and Caravella limoncello.

Olio e Limone Ristorante. 11 West Victoria Street #17. 805 899 2699.

Via Vai

This spot, quietly tucked-away in Montecito, is as well-known for its food as it is for celebrity sightings. One of the more popular restaurants in town amongst the rich and the famous, Via Vai is a great place to stop for lunch between shopping or going to the beach. Try any of their delicious and authentic thin-crust pizzas such as the spicy Diavola or the Alla Salsiccia with Italian sausage.

Via Vai Trattoria Pizzeria. 1483 East Valley Road. 805 565 9393.

Toma Restaurant, located just down the street from Hotel Milo on Cabrillo Boulevard is an elegant spot to drink and dine on fine Italian right across from the beach. Opened just five years ago, it has quickly become one of Santa Barbara’s premier restaurants due to its excellent service and locally-sourced menu. Try the fresh scallops served with lobster whipped potato and wash it down with a glass of wine carefully selected from several small Italian wineries.
