If you’re visiting Santa Barbara and looking to hear live music check out our guide to the Best Live Music in Santa Barbara first! From the famed Santa Barbara Bowl to dive bars and kosher tapas bars there is a great variety of venues to check out live music in Santa Barbara.
The Santa Barbara Bowl ( 1122 N. Milpas St.) is the number one place to see live music in Santa Barbara. This Fall at the Santa Barbara Bowl there are a number of major headline acts playing. We’re particularly excited about An Evening With Diana Ross, Thievery Corporation, George Lopez and Lorde to name a few upcoming acts. Given the size of the venue ticket prices are relatively reasonable (most shows start at $45.)
For great live music in a cool space check out the Soho Restaurant & Music Club ( 1221 State St.) Enjoy reasonably priced food and drinks while jamming to local bands. It’s the perfect mix of casual and fun. The Muddy Waters Café ( 508 E. Haley St.) provides a comfy, cool relaxed atmosphere to listen to local acts. The couches add to the cozy ambiance — we love the board games which are a fun form of entertainment between sets. Velvet Jones (423 State St.) is right in the heart of Santa Barbara and offers some of the best live music in Santa Barbara all in an intimate atmosphere. They also offer fun musically themed events, such as metal Mondays. And, to top it off, they have cool vintage games like Mario Kart and Mortal Kombat (oh: it’s on!). For a music venue with more of an upscale vibe, check out Reds Bar & Tapas (211 Helena Ave.) which is located in the heart of the Funk Zone. Relax as you listen to music and peruse their extensive drink menu —try the grapefruit basil martini.
