Santa Barbara is one of the healthiest cities in the nation, and a major component of that is the local love for fresh, organic food that goes from farm to table. For this reason, the SB Farmer’s Market is hugely popular in all of its locations. On six days of the week, you can find the market in locations throughout town bringing you delicious ingredients for your next great meal. Because locations, times and perks of each market vary, we’ve compiled a guide so you can find the very best on your next trip:
Downtown – 500-600 State Street
The Farmer’s Market on State Street in Downtown Santa Barbara is probably the liveliest of the week, as it is located in the heart of the city. Every Tuesday from 4:00-7:30 PM join the crowds and have some fun while you shop. With more street performers and vendors than other locations, this is the place to people watch. As a bonus, many Downtown restaurants and bars have special local Tuesday deals centered around the fresh produce from that day’s market.
Solvang – Copenhagen Drive and First Street
If you’re going to go to a Farmer’s Market, you might as well get as close to the source as possible! That’s what makes the Solvang market on Wednesdays feel a little special; shopping fresh produce within sight of the farms it came from is both healthy and enjoyable. We recommend making the drive up after lunch, as the market goes from 2:30-6:30 PM.
Goleta – 7004 Marketplace Drive
The Goleta market happens every Thursday from 3:00-6:00 and Sundays from 10:00-2:00 at the Camino Real Shopping Center. Certainly the most convenient of all the locations, here you’ll find plenty of wide open space and parking. There is often live music on Sundays, plus the opportunity to support one of SB’s greatest non-profits, the Devereux Foundation. Stop by this special booth to purchase succulents and know that your money is going to an amazing cause.
Montecito – 1100-1200 Coast Village Road
The Montecito Farmer’s Market is the market’s most picturesque location, happening from 8:00-11:15 AM on Friday mornings along the last few blocks of Coast Village Road. Just minutes from the beach, booths line-up next to the best stores and restaurants in the area for a truly beautiful shopping experience. Be sure to get there early as this smallest market sells out of produce quickly!
Old Town – Santa Barbara Street and Cota Street
The Farmer’s Market in Old Town Santa Barbara is the most iconic of the whole week. Starting at 8:30 AM every Saturday and wrapping up at 2:00 PM, it is the busiest location with the greatest variety. Here you’ll find all of the local farmers’ produce, plus stands serving artisan breads and baked goods, tons of flower booths, honey, cured olives, cheeses and much, much more.
