Visitors of Santa Barbara come for year-round sunshine and active days spent under the sun. While you’re here, however, it’s important not to forget to experience some incredible moonlit fun as well. Here are a couple of our favorite nighttime adventures:

Full Moon Paddle Boarding

Check out the Full Moon Paddles with the Paddle Sports Center, located just down the street from Hotel Milo. Participants paddle out just after the sunset, when the sky is still pink, to watch the moon rise. Rides cost $25 and are led by an instructor. Meet at the Harbor center between 6:30 and 7:30 pm for a two hour paddle and be sure to bring a headlamp!

Moonrise Cruise

One of the most romantic ways to experience the full moon in Santa Barbara is aboard a sailboat with glass of wine in hand. Try booking a ride on the iconic Sunset Kidd for a night of music, drinks and spectacular views of the city and the mountains. Cruises last about two hours so dress warm and bring blankets!

Hike Parma Park

To truly enjoy the moonlight out in nature, try a night hike in Santa Barbara’s most expansive park. Located in the foothills, Parma Park has over five miles of trails and stunning views of the entire city. Try taking the Ridge Trail to Rowe’s table and consider yourself on top of the world at 775 feet!

Happy Hour at Boathouse

The Boathouse bar and restaurant on Hendry’s Beach is one of the best spots in town for a scenic happy hour. With an outdoor patio and huge glass windows, it’s not uncommon to see dolphins from your table. Get there for the sunset and stay into the night sipping the signature Blood Orange Margaritas.

Dinner at Shoreline Cafe

While you’re here, head to Shoreline Beach Cafe and treat yourself to a seafood dinner under the stars with your toes in the sand. Offering casual but quality dishes and located right on Leadbetter Beach, this place is a local favorite. Get there early to avoid crowds on the weekends and be sure to try the Ahi Salad.
