comedy festival

The Santa Barbara Comedy Hideaway (532 State St.) is the go-to venue for must see comedy acts while in Santa Barbara. Located inside Petrini’s restaurant in Goleta, The Comedy Hideaway has shows every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Comics from Comedy Central, Showtime and HBO have all made appearances at this famed Santa Barbara venue which The Santa Barbara Independent calls “the face of comedy in Santa Barbara.” Tickets for each show are $15 each and are on a fist come, first serve basis.

The October line-up at the Santa Barbara Comedy Hideaway is chalk-full of hilarious comedians. Hailey Boyle, voted one of New York’s Top 10 Funniest Comedians, takes the stage in October as the headline act. The week of October 20th the headline act will be Todd Glass who in addition to being a finalist on Last Comic Standing was featured on the Jimmy Kimmel Show, Conan and Comedy Central.
After the show, grab a bite to eat at one of many delicious nearby restaurants. Sandbar ( 514 State Street) is a Mexican cantina with a patio and fire pits. This casual spot has a beachy vibe and they even serve cocktails in mason jars! Be sure to order the fish tacos and sit on the outside patio and let the cool beach breeze flow through your hair. For more casual fare, check out Mac’s Fish & Chip Shop (503 State Street) which serves up the very British staple of Fish and Chips. For a more sophisticated vibe, head to Blush Restaurant & Lounge ( 630 State Street) , enjoy their vast cocktail menu as well as delicious staples like lobster mac n’ cheese.
And be sure to mark your calendar for next spring when the Comedy Hideaway will host the Santa Barbara comedy festival featuring six stages and over 100 Comedians.
