Mixing this major attraction with the holiday season, one of the most hectic and active times for travel during the year, we’re anticipating an excited rush to all local wineries. To help point friends and guests in the right direction, we’ve put together a little Santa Barbara holiday wine guide complete with some of our favorite upcoming events, promotions and ideas.

Two for One Cases

The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is bargain season in the US and that trend surprisingly reaches the high-end wine world. As part of a special promotions package listed on Santa Barbara County Wines, beloved local wineries, Lucas & Lewellen Vineyards and Toccatta are offering up two for one case prices on select cases throughout the holiday season. Santa Barbara County Wines also lists out more promotions for discounts and holiday wine packages, along with a schedule of several favorite wineries’ holiday hours. By the looks of things, there will be plenty of opportunity to taste all the way up to Christmas Eve and then from the 26th through New Years.

With many of the local wineries closing down on Christmas day, those who want to celebrate with a little vino aren’t totally out of luck. The Pali Santa Barbara Tasting Room Happy Hour takes place every Thursday from 4-8pm and is scheduled to happen Christmas. Another option for tasting on Christmas and throughout the season is purchasing a Wine Tasting Winter Pass, which comes equipped with 15 wine tasting flights from varying and acclaimed wineries. The pass is good to use on Christmas and also comes with the possibility of discounts and specials.

Christmas on the Beach

For those who don’t spend the entirety of Christmas at the winery, or at home, Santa Barbara has the atmospheric advantage of sunny and warm winter months. Using one of the aforementioned special deals, take a delicious bottle or case of wine to the beach or park with the family and celebrate the holiday Santa Barbara style!
