Making your way along the California coast is not only a classic spring break trip but is also an action-packed adventure. Make sure you spend a day experiencing the great American riviera of Santa Barbara. Here’s how to make the most of twenty-four hours here:
Catch a Sunrise
Waking up at dawn in SoCal is a real treat and watching a Santa Barbara sunrise doesn’t even require that you leave your room at Hotel Milo! Just watch out over the water from the front of the hotel, take a brief walk to the beach for a seat in the soft sand or a stroll down to the end of the wharf.
Most Important Meal of the Day
For those of you early risers, head over to Dawn Patrol on lower State Street for a hearty and mouth watering breakfast. It’s only a 10-15 minute walk to the cafe and they open at 7:30am, so you can get a early and delicious start to your day with a custom breakfast sandwich.
Hotel Milo also has an onsite diner named Sambo’s that’s also a favorite early morning option.
Sand, Shop or Summit?
Here is where you have to choose between heading up to the Santa Ynez mountains, going shop Downtown or sprawling out and soaking up some rays on the beach.
Hear the ocean calling your name? Check out Hendry’s Beach located a little ways north on Highway 101. It is tucked away from the rest of the city and is also the location of Hendry’s Boathouse which serves the freshest seafood and hand-shaken cocktails. If you feel like strolling and searching around for sea creatures and shells, go visit one of the many tidepooling spots Santa Barbara has to offer.
Looking for a day of retail therapy? State Street has blocks and blocks of adorable shops to explore. If you’re unsure where to start, take a peek at our guide to the best boutiques to visit!
If going out is too daunting of a task and you are looking for the ultimate way to de-stress, Santa Barbara has some of the best spas you can find with an abundance of therapy and massage options that will melt away any of your worries.
Spring in Santa Barbara can be wild and fun, or a relaxing getaway. If you’re looking for a night of live music and dancing, there are more than enough places to chose from. After a nap to recover from a long afternoon of fun, check out what music venues are popping while you’re in town. One of our favorite options is the scenic and popular Santa Barbara Bowl.
Lower State Street has an abundance of late night lounges and bars that are always filled with lively music and people looking for a night of fun. Sandbar offers fine Mexican food and cocktails, Sharkeez has any game you could possibly want, and if you’re fiending for a game of pool or darts then wander over to Whiskey Richards.
Whatever entertainment you find for the evening, if you need a late night meal there are plenty of places to grab a bite at before you head back to your room.
