Ocean Breeze and July Sun: Things to Do in Santa Barbara Summer
On top of being home to the country’s greatest Summer Solstice Celebration, Santa Barbara holds a wealth of fun and exciting summertime happenings. The romantic appeal of this beachside town attracts the best in wine, music and love. Here are three things we are most looking forward to in Santa Barbara this summer:
1. Joan Baez
California is the original home of hippies and an incredible era of classic rock produced through the 1960s and 70s. This summer at the Santa Barbara Bowl, a beautiful amphitheatre up in the hills and surrounded by trees, Joan Baez will rejuvenate her timeless influence on California love and music. Baez will be performing with the Indigo Girls on July 2 and the evening will be absolutely beautiful. With old rockers feeling the power Baez instilled in them decades ago, and new faces getting to enjoy her beloved energy in 2014, this will be one of many great things to do in Santa Barbara this summer.

2. Pacific Pride Festival
California is home to some of the most important historical and modern events in the history of the LGBT liberation movement. The power and positive energy that has come from Prop 8 and DOMA somehow makes this sunny state even brighter. In the spirit of continuously celebrating progress, the Pacific Pride Festival will bring an ecstatic crowd and array of attractions to Leadbetter Beach in Santa Barbara from July 9-13 this summer.
Events include everything from the Pride Sunset at the Canary to the Girl Party to the Self Evident Truths Gala. This will be a weekend of proud honesty and liberated romance. What a better place then the gorgeous and friendly town of Santa Barbara to enjoy truth and love? With ocean, love and smiles this will be a must-attend in Santa Barbara this summer.

3. California Wine Festival
From July 17-29, the traveling California Wine Festival will be stopping by Santa Barbara to offer tastings of some of the most sought-after wines in California and the world. In addition to countless varietals and vintages, the festival is also known for the variety of gourmet food and artisan bread available. Adding in some live music and a breathtaking ocean landscape, this event has the makings for some absolutely perfect summer days.
A plethora of participating wineries and restaurants participate in the festival, including the Monterey Chocolate Company and Hearst Ranch Winery. This makes for a concentrated variety of incredible flavors all available for tasting. Without the California Wine Festival, one would have to travel great lengths to be able to enjoy all of this different wine and food. Luckily, they will all be together in Santa Barbara this summer.
