Hotel Milo’s hometown is proud to host some trend-setting performances. The Santa Barbara Centre for Aerial Arts will dive into its extraordinarily unique style of dance at the upcoming 2015 Santa Barbara Contemporary Floor to Air Festival. A completely new style of dance event in Southern California, the festival will source professional performers from around the world to explore the aerial arts through forums, workshops, performances and more.
The Santa Barbara Centre for Aerial Arts is a haven for this contemporary blend of aerial training and dance. The art form blends a series of disciplines, including static trapeze, tightwire, and contemporary dance, while the organization educates and trains all levels and all ages in the craft through a multidisciplinary curriculum. The upcoming festival will act as an extension of the Santa Barbara Centre for Aerial Arts’ services and spirit.
Such an intense and particular form of performing arts warrants an exceptional venue. The Lobero Theatre will serve as the ideal host, as it has a long history of eclectic residencies. Dating back to Hollywood preview performances in the 1920s to a run of jazz shows in the 40s and 50s to the present-day Floor to Air Festival, Lobero is the spot to see eccentric talent in Santa Barbara. The auditorium has a classic aesthetic with a large stage, mosaic ceiling, and red velvet seats.
While performers and attendees can attend the festival in an ideal environment, they’ll be able to become fully immersed in the aerial dance performances. Taking such a multi-disciplinary and widespread art form to the big stage offers room for a lot of exploration and experimentation, which is why the festival’s entire two weeks will progress with excitement and wonder. So, no matter what day Santa Barbara travelers can make it, they should be sure to check out at least some of the 2015 Santa Barbara Contemporary Floor to Air Festival.
