This March, Santa Barbara is getting an extra special treat. The powerful and lively Catalyst Quartet is coming here to play a show at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. This incredible string quartet is known for putting on one of the most lively and energetic shows of any band of its kind. Their talent can be appreciated through the prolificacy of their performances and the expansive call to have them play in major cities all around the world. Throughout all of those performances, they have played some of the most renowned venues in the world including Carnegie Hall, Grand Opera House and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
In line with such a slew of amazing performance venues, we are excited for the Santa Barbara Museum of Art to host the seasoned Catalyst Quartet. In addition to hosting a wide variety of events and programs, the museum also boasts an undeniably impressive collection of art with upwards of 30,000 works. In addition to hosting musical performances, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art is a destination for curated discussions, lectures and various educational programs.
With nothing to worry about in terms of location here in beautiful Santa Barbara, those less familiar with the Catalyst Quartet will benefit from taking a deeper look at the group. One of their violinists, Karla Donehew-Perez has been performing since being an infant and holds a Masters degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Jessie Montgomery is a New Yorker who also plays violin and was once the Van Lier Composer Fellow at the American Composers Orchestra. Paula Laraia plays viola and is a member of the renowned Sejong Soloists ensemble. Lastly, Karlos Rodriguez plays cello and is a member of the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra.
With so many impressive individuals getting together to play music, Santa Barbara is certainly in for an excellent evening of music. For those visiting Santa Barbara this March, be sure to keep an eye out for this show and others alike.
