Fiesta Santa Barbara (aka The Old Spanish Days Fiesta) takes place this year from July 30- August 3. The celebration is now in its 90th year! This action packed 8-day festival is without a doubt one of the premiere events in Santa Barbara and draws thousands of spectators every year. The Santa Barbara area is teeming with the rich cultural history and traditions of the American, Indian, Spanish and Mexican cultures all became a melting pot in this area; the festival seeks to honor and educate locals (and visitors) about this rich history. To get up to speed on the history of the festival check out the Project Fiesta! Exhibit at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum (136 E De La Guerra St) enjoy a range of vintage art, artifacts, historical photos, fascinating exhibits and more. Enjoy pop-up Mexican market El Mercado de la Guerra on Wednesday July 30 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. From delicious Mexican treats to arts and crafts, there is something for everyone at this market. Don’t miss Casa Cantina, hosted by the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation. On Thursday July 31, check out the Fiesta Stock Horse Show and Rodeo (Earl Warren Showgrounds, 3400 Calle Real). One of our favorite Fiesta Santa Barbara events is the historical parade which takes place on Friday August 1 at 12 p.m. The parade route starts on the west of Cabrillo Blvd., runs parallel to the beach and down State Street. On Saturday at 10 a.m. don’t miss the children’s parade as well! When you stay at Hotel Milo, you’re conveniently located near all of the Fiesta Santa Barbara events. Our Milo Cruisers make it easy and fun to navigate the city and catch all of the Fiesta events.
