Old Spanish Days, aka Fiesta, is arguably Santa Barbara’s most anticipated and beloved event of the year. The five-day celebration of the city’s Spanish and Mexican heritage takes place all over town and is major fun for everyone. First, don’t miss the opening ceremony on Wednesday night at the Old Mission featuring traditional Spanish music and dance. If you’ve got kids, take them to the Mackenzie Park Carnival for games, rides, arts and crafts, and great food. Also, head downtown to ‘El Mercado de la Guerra’ in De La Guerra Plaza for churros, live music, and tons of shopping. On Friday, witness the largest equestrian parade in the country with the Historical Parade starting on Cabrillo Boulevard, right outside Hotel Milo’s front doors.
