The excitement and mystique of Santa Barbara’s Summer Solstice Celebration
Santa Barbara’s most vibrant and eccentric city festival, the Summer Solstice Celebration is an annual festival centered on the longest day of the year, June 21. On that day, thousands of artists and spectators will gather in Santa Barbara in an array of creative presentations for the 40th annual Solstice Parade. Expect lots of lively color and fun, particularly with this year’s parade theme “Games,” which will translate into floats, costumes, choreographed dances and more. We anticipate a slew of “Hunger Games” floats this year!
Aside from the parade, the three-day festival itself includes arts and crafts boutiques, workshops, and other artistic events, all hosted in Alameda Park close to Hotel Milo. Sample food provided by local restaurants, and kick back to live music—perhaps even join the all-inclusive drum circle in the park. Lastly, don’t forget to bring the kids; storytellers and mimes in the children’s area will keep them entertained all afternoon long.
All those who desire can register to be a part of the Summer Solstice Celebration. With an annual crowd exceeding 100,000, it’s certainly the most memorable way to kick off the official start of summer in Santa Barbara!
