Los Agaves is a rare standout amongst the countless Mexican restaurants in Santa Barbara and Southern California at large. An adobe exterior accented by red-tile floors, authentic and colorful paintings on the walls creates a charming Southwestern aesthetic. Just like the dining room, each of the dishes served here is visually pleasing with vibrant fruits and colorful garnishes on each artfully-plated serving.

Located on North Milpas Street, it’s just a ten-minute drive from our property with tons of attractions along the way. Beer lovers can delight in its proximity to Pure Order Brewing Company and Telegraph Brewing, and music lovers can grab a bite here before heading to a show at the nearby Santa Barbara Bowl.
What to Try
Beginning your meal at Los Agaves, there are a number of tasty Mexican treats to sample. The most sought after dish is the ceviche tostada, which is comprised of fresh halibut marinated in lime and served with onions, cilantro, guacamole and a crispy corn tortilla. Another popular choice is the queso fundido completed with roasted poblano chiles and chorizo.
Moving onto the main course, Los Agaves has delightful choices for favorites like burritos and tacos. The rasa con queso is a great option—two tacos stuffed with grilled pasilla chiles, corn, tomatoes, monterey jack cheese, queso fresco and rice and beans. The tacos del mar are another favorite complete with mango, cabbage and a choice of fresh halibut or shrimp. Vegetarians have plenty of options here as well, one of our favorites being the garden burrito filled with grilled zucchini, peppers, pinto beans, guacamole and fresh queso.
The sole, rich dessert option at Los Agaves is a creamy house made flan. It’s quality over quantity, people.
